Bowmen of Rutland Junior Archery Club.
The Bowmen of Rutland Junior Club has been a very active part of the main club. We have twenty Junior members at present, our youngest member is seven years old.
A large number of our archers have gone on to represent
their County, Leicester and Rutland County Archery Association (L&RCAA),
and their Region, East Midland Archery Society (EMAS). A couple of our junior
archers have also represented England as a member of the Junior England team
and Great Britain both as Juniors and Seniors.
Juniors are encouraged to aim for the GNAS Beginners Award Scheme, with under 12s shooting for the Red and Gold Feathers and the older juniors the Arrows, starting with the White one and working up to the Gold Arrow.
The club has two Junior Representatives who represent the
views of the Juniors at the Club Committee meetings. Juniors are represented by
Jill Gornall, assisted by junior member Ethan. Chrissie Mortlock is the club’s
Junior Coach.
In previous years the club has organised specific coaching sessions for junior members, Chrissie and Jill are planning to organise some sessions during the outdoor season.
Juniors are welcome to attend any BORDS sessions, BORDS is the Bowmen of Rutland Development Squad, which meets once a month at Greetham Community Centre.
